Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for the town she grew up in. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father was from a Jewish family. The actress is the younger sister of Uria and two half-siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder's parents moved her and their children in Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder was an avid reader and spent her time reading books as she had no television. Ryder started to take acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. Lucas The film from 1986 that she was in, was her debut major role. Ryder was just 15 when she got it. Ryder was bullied in high school. Ryder hoped her career as an actress could bring about change. It didn't turn out. She continued to pursue her dreams. In 1988 she had her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to be successful in her characters in numerous films. In 1993 she received two nominations for Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part In The Age of Innocence.
