Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in the love of Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his adopted state brought many others to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of fame to be inducted into the hall. Today he personifies the state for all people. On my trips I've had the pleasure of meeting people who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell them you're from Colorado, the first words they'll use are"Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was among Denver's top 10 solo success after performing in small folk groups. It was co-written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff initially wrote the song using Johnny Cash's songs in the back of his mind, however Denver recognized from the first moment he heard earlier versions that the track could be a huge popular. Just a couple of days after performing to a packed audience in Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
